Pictured here is one of the wild parties Go-Daigo liked to hold in the palace. Your attention might be drawn to the foreground, but look at the upper left of the picture. Behind the sliding doors, Go-Daigo and his most trusted officials are quite sober and are discussing plans to overthrow the bakufu. The parties were a cover for such planning, the idea being that bakufu spies would not suspect any political purpose in such activities. By the way, notice the happy looking Buddhist monk in the upper right.
