The main boulevard, 60-foot wide Nakanochô, extended for about 805 feet from the Great Gate entrance, pictured at the top. Nakanochô crossed three 30-foot wide streets that spanned about 540 feet. A bridge to the Great Gate crossed the moat surrounding the entire quarter. Yoshiwara had but this single entrance.
